There was a story in The Times about a new Fleming exhibit at IWM.
His plan was that a captured He 111 would be ditched in the Channel with a Britrish crew and wait to be rescued by a German Rescue Launch.
The fliers would then take over the boat to get a codebook.

It never came off (in part) because of concerns for the crew’s safety during ditching.
From what I understand, that concern was well placed,
weren’t He 111s notoriously bad for water landings…(because of the glass forward fuselage)?
