Hallo – first time here.
Not sure if this post should be in military aviation but please bear with me.
I was surpised to learn that there were 3 Ibo pilots that flew with CarlGustaf von Rosen in the above civil war.
Does anyone know their names or if they are still around?
I have read Frederick Forsyth’s book on Biafra and there is some good stuff on the net too, but the story of these African pilots seems to have been overlooked.

Have you read “On Wings of War” by Jan (Jean) Zumbach? I think he mentions the Ibo airmen.

Michael Draper’s book Shadow-Airlift is a very good and very well illustrated book, particularly the exporting of the Meteor NF14s. Well worth getting a copy of.

During the weeks in May and June 1969 when CG von Rosen (together with two other Swedes: Martin Lang and Gunnar Haglund) flew combat missions with Biafran AF MFI-9Bs, two Ibo pilots also took part: Auguste Opke and Willy Bruce.
