Hi All,
In the absence of aviation photos, I thought I’d share some from a wander round Ogden Water/Ovendon Moor (near Bradford/Halifax) this afternoon with fellow forum member EGNM. I’ve never seen ice quite like it!

Thanks for looking, and I hoped you liked them. I’ve just about thawed out now! 🙂

Somehow I have managed to miss this thread until now. Really pleased I came across it though because these photos are amazingly good, Paul.

Now thats what I miss about good old Pennine landscapes, it pales anything down here into insignificance. My stepson went down the River Blackwater, which is just over the fence, on Sunday and took some stunning winter pictures with his mobile phone, well, I thought they were till I saw yours.
I will say one thing though, the river here is about 5m wide, fairly deep and usually fast flowing, but it was virtually iced over during the weekend, in fact the old millrace just along the bank, was completely frozen over, very unusual.
Our nearest craggy outcrop must be Charnwood Forest which is about 100 miles away, what a pain.
I intend going to see my mother in a few weeks, I think this has persuaded me to take the old hiking gear with me, if I can find it, and dissapear into Derbyshire for a few hours.
Theres nowt like a bit of hill walking in the winter, as long as you know what you’re doing and have the right equipment. A few years ago my brother and I tackled Kinder Scout on New Years Eve, it was glorious, we found several a/c wrecks, including a Rapide, what amazed me were the number of people camping out in Edale, no way, I tried it once, when it snows your tent has a tendency to collapse, it makes it difficult to get out for a pee during the night, which you need to do having had several pints in order to make you sleep in such conditions.

Great photos
Great shots Paul, you know it’s been really cold when running water gets frozen solid. Haven’t seen shots like that for a while.
Cheers

Enjoy the sun mate. There’s a rumour that our summer is on its way though if they sent it with Royal mail it might get here the year after next or it might not arrive at all.

Very nice, almost makes you feel cold just looking at them. I’m surprised to be the first to pass comment on them. If you’ve any more I’d be happy to see them.
