In March I flew Jeddah- LHR in a BA 777 which made a technical stop at Larnaca (because of the war in Iraq BA crews were not night stopping in Saudi). On the apron at Larnaca was a B727 with large “UN” markings on the side. Does anyone know anything about this aircraft? – registration – usual base – what it is used for?

It was indeed used by the UN weapons inspectors. I can’t remember the reg, just that it was South African. It was featured several times on the news at the time. Guess its back in SA by now?

probably the same one that flew the Weaponds Inspectors in and out og Iraq.
