In an archive we have found pics of a AM 1943 as we thought a “clamp” . Can some one ID this thing and which type of aircraft it came from??
Cheers,
Adrian

Adrian,
Don’t forget that the AM marked just about all of their property! It’s perhaps surprising that it wasn’t also marked with an AP1086 Section Reference Number, although I’ve noticed that tools including drawing instruments etc aren’t always so identified.

Hi Stan, Many Thanks for clearing this up. Thought so that the “clamp” thing doesn’t maybe come off from an aircraft. Just curious because it bearing a AM stamp and 1943. Bit suspicious to me.
Best Regards,
Adrian

Sorry. Doesn’t come from an aircraft. The larger clamp slides along a bar (Wooden lath or metal) and the small side clamp holds an eccentric pointer. There usually is another such clamp at the other end of the bar. It is a trammel when in such an assembly and is used for such tasks as trueing up the spar alignment in a wire braces wing structure such as Cub, Auster, Tiger etc. Mine are made by Starrett
