In 1950 one N.A./Ryan Navion in the US was painted up in Swedish AF
colours and marked “RSAF 707”. Now I of course wonder which?
During this period of time the Swedish Emabassy a/c, a AT-16 marked
SE-01 (later became Sk 16A Fv-nr 16144), was about to be shipped to
Sweden. In the search for a replacement a/c this Navion was offered
by Babb & Co.
Two possible candidates are c/n NAV-4-707 and c/n NAV-4-1707. Anyone
of these owned by Babb & Co in 1950?
Babb & co was by that time also involved in the sales/shipment of 116 AT-6/SNJ/BC-1 etc (Sk 16B and -C) to the Swedish AF. Instead of the Navion one of these was eyemarked for use by the Embassy in Washington. Also this a/c has not been id! It was accepted on 10.12.50 at Sebring, FL. and ferried in early 1951 to Washington by the Swedish Air Attaché Hubert von Schinkel. It is said to been paited up with Swedish insignias and marked “S.R.A.F.070.”. Any more info on this is of course very much welcome!
MTIA!!

Thanx, J Boyle! Will try to get some more info there…
Regarding “S.R.A.F.070.” I can ad that this has been id as a BC-1A/AT-6, ex 40-2125. It was shipped to Sweden on M/S Minnesota from New York on 1.8.52. It is possible that become a Sk 16B/C in SwAF in 1953, there are a few un-id, or was parted out for spares.
The US reg prior to becoming “S.R.A.F.070.” is said to have been N51137.
Any more info on this a/c? Even pictures? I would be most greatfull…
