Follow the successful identification of the Lancaster crew by members of this forum I was wondering if the forums collective wisdom could help with the following.
The attached photographs are taken from my Father’s P.O.W. log. Shot down with 97 Squadron 23rd September 1943 and captured he was imprisoned at various times in Stalag Luft 6, Stalag Luft 3 and Stalag 357 in such places as Heyderkrug, Sagan, Thorn, Fallingbostel and Marlag/Tarmsdedt.
Can anyone identify the people shown and locations?

Congratulations on the successfull conclusion of your quest. Patience and perserverance. Presumably the survivors do not mind their personal details being published for the public?;)
Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

Wonderful news for me today, had an e mail telling me the following.
The chaps in the photo Left to right are
1 Aubrey Niner,
2 George Hunt, (Me)
3 A.W.(Sandy) Simpson. Died some years ago
4 Tom (Titch) Lockyer, Died a couple of years ago
The chap in the other picture is also Tom Lockyer.
Were all in the same room in Stalag Luft 3.
If memory serves me right the photos were taken at Oflag 21B at Shubin in Poland.when we were temporarily taken there from Stalag Luft 3 in late 1942

Recieved some new infromation today. Taken at Fallingbostel the one of the chap on his own looks to have been taken of him standing in front of the remains of a garden built by Italian prisoners when they were building the camp itself. The hut in the distance was probably one of the cookhouses.

Reviewing my Father’s correspondence to my Mother I note that he tells her that in August 1944 when he was at Stalag 357 at Fallingbostel, he had received from the Red Cross the “War Time Log” that the pictures are taken from. He also mentions that everyone was busy filling them in. From that I presume the pictures were taken at Fallingbostel.
He remained at Fallingbostel until January 23rd. 1945 when as a newly commissioned officer he was transferred to Stalag Luft III. He remained there for 5 short days before Sagan was evacuated. His movements from then until liberation 10 miles S.W. of Lubeck on May 2nd. 1945 are unknown to me.
Anyone any more suggestions?

As of this moment I have had 85 views not no replys to this article. I must admit I am a little disapointed. Anyone any suggestions as to where else I might post this in order to get a response?
