Identity of part

Good afternoon all, I needs the opinion of the experts on this one. The attached picture is claimed to be part of a German aircraft, namely a Storch.
I do not know if it is an aircraft part or just a piece picked up in a field.

To a virtual layman it looks like an elevator sub-assembly. if that’s right, then I can see how it could be from a Storch, because it does have elevators that are ‘through tail’ rather than behind. But the rounded end profile would make no sense because the apparent length is nowhere near the length of the two elevators, and rounding the ends in that way would just make the job of building ribs around it harder.

So as above, I’d say earlier, and smaller. The Storch was not a small aircraft.
