IDs of Spitfires/Seafires at Airframe Assemblies on IOW…

hi,
after e-mailing Airframe Assemblies 3 time’s with no reply I chanced a visit, asked at the reception but was told “this is a working factory, can you come back on Friday after we finish work, I replied that due to returning to the mainland early Saturday we would not be able to. I mentioned the main door’s were partially open could I look from there, to which I was told yes but don’t go in, so, the point of my post, I saw a two seater in primer, a single seater in primer, and a unmarked frame in a jig. Does anyone know their identities?. The official site mention’s SM520, RR232. but I don’t know how upto date their information is.

regards,
jack…

Seriously impressed with Airframe Assemblies’ attitude.

If only some other businesses in this field could be so accommodating!

Keep in mind that these places are indeed ‘businesses’ and have work schedules to get on with and staff who’s time has to be paid for.
If we tried walking into our local bank or Kwik Fit just for a ‘look around’ I don’t imagine we’d get far.

Try;

BS410 Supermarine Spitfire IX
RM927 Supermarine Spitfire FRXIV
SR462 Supermarine Seafire XV

For three of them, not sure on the 4th one mentioned, depending on how long ago it was it could have been,

BR601 Supermarine Spitfire FIX

Although that is now at Biggin Hill, continuing its return to flight.

Rr232 is now airworthy so it’s quite a way out of date, the two seater is BS410, there is also a Mkxiv, mkix and Seafire being worked on but because they are for private owners the serials aren’t in the public domain.
