I thought the F100s where painted silver? After all, the plane is made of composites, not metal!

The FOKKER F100’s from AA and USairways were just Polished,
the cigar [fuselage] were first Polished with a Robot. After painting ,were re Polished with the hand, very hard work for the ones doing the belly.
No UVR Lacquer/varnis applied.
USair were re Polished after so many flights.
All 3 Livery’s are great.
The third is the best.
Polished skin saves on weight.

I would like AA to ditch the all silver body and go for something new, bear, and cheap (in painting costs) though classy. I am bored of all this widespread paint.

I like the 3rd one. The first one reminds me of Air Transat’s old livery.

That last one is great! Only other titles and that blueish/reddish at the tail, no.

Thanx Folks 😀

Bloddy hell in the first one how are they going to make a see thru plane 😮 you know something boeing havent told us yet?
By: steve rowell - 22nd February 2004 at 22:02
I think the AA livery is simple but nice, your version retains the polished look which is Americans trade mark, well done Sandy
By: Bmused55 - 22nd February 2004 at 21:53
another, fancyfull design. Bit more “whacky”
By: Jeanske_SN - 22nd February 2004 at 21:35
Is the price of paint the same for every color or sort? A car with metal color costs more.
By: Hand87_5 - 22nd February 2004 at 21:33
Thanks Sandy. Do you you if this process is cheaper than painting?

The bared metal of AA’s c/s is it really bared metal or silver paint ?
BAre metal, no paint apart from the stripes.
Technically its actualy lacquered metal. Bare metal would rust quickly.
The metal is polished then coated with a lacquer, a varnish in leymans terms.
