If you won the lottery what type would you fly

If the numbers came up which one from the following would you buy and why:
1 Fouga Magister
2 Piston Provost
3 Jet Provost
4 SAAB Safir
5 D.H.Tiger Moth
6 D.H.Chipmunk
7 L-39
I would go for the Magister jet.It howls like a banshee but it flies well and has nice lines.A former Finnish airforce example would do me fine. Now for those numbers to come through…………….

Martin, I have two points to make here.
1) you have already proved you’re nuts by staying on this forum for a month.
2)It is the best place on the net followed by Neil Aird’s dhc-2.com. A wonderful site for Beaver nuts.

Mike

Umm might have to take a look at that site as have flown in a number of Beavers including C-FOBT the 2nd one built and I believe the world’s oldest airworthy example (no puns please).

People say there is a vermillon coloured Beaver living at Popham. I’ll have to keep an eye open for that in the New Year 🙂

If it has to be from that list I wouldn’t bother

From the list….the Provost….a lovely aeroplane to fly (only had two P2 flights in one (and thats up for sale at Shoreham). So come on 6…15…22…33..41..47…

If I won a lottery I would try to get a place in:

MiG-21
Su-27/30
Mi-24
L-39
all from the Vietnamese air force.

Just had a thought(ouch that hurt) is there an Airspeed Courier about anywhere. The other thing is, does anyone know what happened to the Percival Q6 that was around in the mid 50s? it passed through Kidlington on a couple of occasions when I was a lad. That is one nice looking machine, I think it was possibly even better looking than the Dragon/Rapide airframe.

Ok, you’re right, but I cant just list Harvards people will think I’m nuts (please don’t tell anyone, ok?).

Still think they would be in that order and then a MK.IIA or III and a SNJ-2 (akin HVD Mk.I), a Yale (not sure what they look like) and a Ceres to make things a little different.

Best wishes to you and everyone else. I’ve only been here for just over a month and regret not joining earlier. Its the best place on the net.

From the List ,L39, I have a 40″ span RC one with Snoopy Check-riding Gromit in the cockpit ( don’t ask!)

In general I have dreamt of restoring and Flying a Connie in the UK with my lottery-gotten gains, and a Wessex HC2 to get me to and fro (much like Tim Manna uses his Wasp to get from home to North Weald)

Martin – very true – it’s like online therapy! Or maybe it just comes in a bit handy when you start to doubt your own sanity!

Stearman, Harvard, Mustang, Bearcat

So actually Chris all you need to do is subliminally suggest ‘Bearcat Bearcat Bearcat’ to MH then, in fact, you will be able to play with your complete wishlist n’est-ce pas?

For me that would be:

Tipsy Nipper
Tipsy Trainer
Tipsy Junior
Tipsy Belfair
Tipsy S.2

Those last two will be difficult, as there are only 2 Belfair left. Two S.2 left in museums (but a nice replica will do!)

And afterwards I’d start my own Tipsy museum

(maybe a Spitfire to have some fun with)

But if it was anything else would be an Auster Mk.9 (another nice aeroplane), a Stearman and either a Harvard Mk.IIB or a T-6F/SNJ-6.

From the list, the magister, if anything a Beaufighter. Just for the shear beauty and rarity. Or one of the various Hawker biplanes that we dont have an example of flying.

Same here, also for the fact I could carry my mates about in the back!

depends how much i won!

Hurricane (my fighter fix)
DH60 (my biplane fix)
Huey (my chopper fix)
Boston (my bomber fix)
Storch (my Axis fix)
Norseman (my lets bundle into something groovy for the weekend fix)

I’m not greedy….

But if it was the euromillions jackpot I would give a sum of money to each aviation museum in the uk and commission a replica Stirling!

I believe you mean presence rather than style. Those things were built as a good looking aircraft and dipped in a bucket of ugly afterwards.
