Hi flight simmers. I have given up using IL2 on my XP Home Edition PC because it crashes regularly. I have tried reloading the sim but I get the same problem. I downloaded about three patch updates but this also did not cure the problem.
Any ideas? I will only be able to check this message every during the week so please be patient if you have questions.

Its not just patches that are essential for the smooth of software but your drivers also. Make sure that all drivers for graphics and sound cards are bang upto date. Does your computer crash frequently? If so then perhaps there’s an issue with some of your hardware such as the RAM.
Get everything upto date then test the sim at the basic detail level. If thats stable increase resolution to the desired level with all other options off or minimum. Then one by one crank them up untill you reach a satisfactory detail level thats stable.

Do you have a system that is sufficient to support the program. I’ve run IL2 on a pentium 750MHz and also had several system crashes. Since I have a pentium 1900+, the problem seems to be cured. But there could be other reasons of course.
