Can you fly the B-25J in Forgotten Battles?
By: Kye - 3rd October 2004 at 22:27
Yes it is VERY easy to underestimate the Gladiator.
Oooh yes, you guys in the Sqaud have found that out with me recently :p
The 262 you need to use the whole runway.
Before you start to roll, put on the brakes, power up to 90% slowly, allow the engines to get to a constant level, and have full flaps
when you are at take off speed GENTLY pull her up
By: ukpsycho - 2nd October 2004 at 22:26
Yeh, sorry about that, must not have taken it all in. The 262 is more sensitive than the rest, the reason it catches fire when you throttle down certain amounts is because it takes time for the fuel flow to decrease, too much fuel and you get the fire in the wrong place. Running out of runway though shouldnt be a problem, if you are able to taxi to the end of the runway, stop, hold breaks until you hit 50-60% then let go, you will accelerate quickly and have enough speed to increase the throttle more without any issues.
Not much more to it really, took me a long time to get it right too 🙂
By: Phil Foster - 1st October 2004 at 17:17
I just got a 262 off the deck and although it seemed to overheat over readily, so long as I was really gentle with the throttle I managed it. Only tried it once though so it might be a fluke.

turn off engine fires i do!!!
By: Barnowl - 30th September 2004 at 14:13
uk psyco- if you read the 1st page, u’d find that no matter how slowly i increase the throttles, they always catch fire at around the 40%, increasing slowly at 40& means your out of runway before you reach 60%!!! It must be a sensitive algorithm…

The jet engines catch fire if you throttle up or down too quickly, slow increments and you’ll be up in the air in no time 🙂
Oh and my favourite plane is the Gladiator :diablo:
By: Barnowl - 29th September 2004 at 10:46
Nah, dnt work lyk dat. when i get up2 bout 40% (enough to move the s0dding thing) i suddenly have a right (almost ALWAYS right) engine fire n then its goodnight Vienna… Oh well, ill fly the YP-80… Thats always good 4a laff!
By: _ROOSTA_ - 29th September 2004 at 04:50
I meant give it a tiny little bit to get started rolling, if it still blows up then theres something wrong
By: Phil Foster - 27th September 2004 at 12:06
So we have…what? 100+ different aircraft to fly in IL2 FB/AEP 2.04 and all you can do is complain that there are a few boring western fighters? I don’t get it. Why not ignore the aircraft you are not interested in and fly the ones you are interested in, instead of trying to get the ones you are not interested in or the ones you simply don’t like removed? The way I see it everybody is catered for whats so bad about that?
By: Barnowl - 27th September 2004 at 11:19
With regards to ROOSTA- you have to spool up the engines to START the take off run!! Whats the hotkey to get out and push it?! Or do a few groundcrew run over and blow into the inlets?! All i no is that it still goes bang.
