There is little information on the Il-4’s service career postwar. Despite its slow speed, limited range and the availability of newer aircraft, (such as the Tu-2, Pe-2, A-20, and B-25), it seems likely that at least some of the veteran bombers soldiered on in some capacity post August 1945.
Does anyone know if the Il-4’s were used in any capacity post-August 1945? Did the Soviet air force continue to utilize them in the Pacific region, even as squadron hacks, or transports?
I do know that the Finnish air force had some examples, however they were grounded by Feburary, 1945.
Thank you in advance for any information on the finale of this important strategic bomber.

Thanks Flyer !
Be patient, dear Farmgate – I have found some material.
Any information is appreciated. I did find a photo of a Il-4 in 1948, green with light undersides. Thank you again, and best wishes for a happy new year!

I can’t answer your question Farmgate, but here’s a couple of photos I took of the restored Il-4 now resident at Park Pobed (Victory Park) in Moscow….
