It seems as though the definition of ‘Homepage’ varies according to whom you speak to. In my line of work it refers to a website produced by an individual and as such, the reasoning behind my initial concern still stands.
However, the apology is accepted and as far as I’m concerned, the matter is now closed and needs no further discussion.

I’m sorry it took me so long to reply, I was only made aware of this thread today. 🙂
First off, I would like to apologise for any offence I have caused. I love your website and use it regularly. The link in my A.net profile has been there for years, and it was silly of me not to ask permission at the time! If I’m honest I forgot all about it!
The link is actually in a sentece under ‘other info’ and not ‘homepage’ as has been suggested. I’m sorry if it looks like I have claimed the site as my own work, but I promise you that was not my intention! I could never even hope to do as well as you have done with it!
I have recieved nothing from A.net, as I don’t think I’m actually breaking any rules. If you had contacted me personally at the time, I would have been more than happy to remove the link! I still am, and if you wish for the link to be removed I will do so immediately. Just let me know! 🙂
Again, I’m sorry to have offended you, and keep up the great work on the site!

and he’s only 13. Don’t bother. He’s just a kid. What can you do, file a lawsuit? It’s not like he’s financially causing any problems, is he? He doesn’t break copyright rules.

In the grand scheme of things does it really matter?
1) He’s advertising your site.
2) He appears to be making no claim whatsoever that the site is his.
3) Don’t you want your site to attract more attention? It’s not like he’s bringing it into any kind of disrepute after all.
4) Both definitions of homepage appear to be acceptable.
There’s no harm done at all as far as I can see. It would be different if he was portraying the sight as his own. When I connect to the internet the page displayed is the blueyonder homepage (that IS what it is called). I have no problem with that. I don’t understand why the owner of Jethro’s has.

That is what I learnt as well when I started surfing in 1996… Wikipedia says:
Homepage may refer to:
– the website of a group or individual
– the URL or local file that is automatically loaded when a web browser starts
– an individual’s personal webpage, containing information about themselves
