Im Quite Obviously The Worst Son In The World…

Having spent the best part of the last 3 months thinking about work work work (new thing for me :diablo: ) I was feeling pretty glum and then it suddently dawned on me that I hadnt thought at all about projects/aircraft/general lunacy for quite some time!

So I was sat at work one night shift waiting for the next Jeremy Kyle guest to ring me and tell me that they rang 999 because they had no credit to ring the non emergency number…:rolleyes:

Gliding through ebay one night, I was presented with a new project – a 1983 Gokart shaped project – front and rear brakes (unusual for a gokart) AND a 250cc rotax engine! all for (£150) so of course, that was bought and paid for, I sold the engine the same evening ( For £210 :diablo: )

Here it is strapped to the roof of my friends Honda Jazz (4 hours there and 4 hours back..)

Needless to say once It was home and about to put it in the (empty) garage I wastold that I wasnt to have it in the garage, it wasnt allowed inside the house in any way OR id have my legs broken and my tongue ripped out (etc etc)

An overreaction perhaps? imho yes, but I unfortunately let slip that the GSXR 600cc motorbike engine that I bought for a snip just a few days previousy was going to be mated to the kart to produce something that could only be described as terrifying :diablo: (14000rpm an inch behind you and 2 inches ground clearance…

So here is where im at tonight, my girlfriends brother came over (he’s a CAD engineer by trade) and we measured the chassis up part by part and now we have a lovely CAD model of the chassis as it stands and a lovely cad model of the engine and its mounting points, in a few days we will have the stress analysed finished model ready to go to the welder/fabricator 😀

So a small mockup of the insanity to come ….

obviously some serious lengthening and strenghtening is going to have to go into this lol, Ali has drawn up some very interesting ideas for engine mounts!!

Its all basically ridiculous, even the maths is ridiculous!!!

125bhp engine + 100kg of me + 120kg of chassis and engine = 568bhp per ton :diablo:

This, on a vehicle no more than two inches off the ground, no suspension, rollbar, traction control, ABS or any other drivers aid. All of this on a set of wheels the size of a small flowerpot!

So once more Im endangering my mothers good health (as it is now happily in the garage much to her disgust as my legs and tongue remain intact! :diablo: ) happily building a new and exciting way of killing myself 😀

What do I expect? lots of sideways action and lots of melted tyres 🙂

Just something to make you all giggle – im expecting a sub 3sec 0-60….
