“Hey, you can’t load that in here…”
Hehehehe remember how big the laser sights were on pistols then… (and in “Cobra” and that other movie with Stallone, and Teri Hatcher as his daughter????!?!?!?!?!)

“UZI 9mm”
“Any of these are great for home defence”

RE: I’m scared of Global Thermonuclear War 🙂
Of course there is no reason to be morbid and negative… the world as we know it now is going to end in a global thermonuclear war in less than 10 months anyway… (Skynet becomes self aware 17th August 2003…)

RE: I’m scared of Global Thermonuclear War 🙂
The more so when one considers the solutions offered in the two main movies on the subject were absolute bollocks anyway.
(The distance from earth the comet was destroyed in Armageddon would have actualy made it more destructive, not less destructive… a shotgun blast of large projectiles instead of one large slug)

“As far as I know, may teams over the worls are scanning the space in order to detect some asteroids able to destroy us.”
Yes, as far as most people know there are thousands of people scanning the skies for earth crossers. (ie objects that cross earths orbit and therefore could potentially hit earth.)
The reality is before the movie flood there were more people working in your average McDonalds that were looking worldwide.
After the movies the US did budget a few million towards searching the skies, but they only funded their own observatories. Most other governments have other things on their mind and did very little. The result is that half the sky is being watched but the southern hemisphere is largely ignored. There are a handfull of people looking in Australia I believe but that is about it.

RE: I’m scared of Global Thermonuclear War 🙂
I’m sure some of our Aussie friends will bear me out on this…
A good few years ago (early-mid 90’s?) seismologists detected a powerful earth tremor originating somewhere in the interior of Ausralia. Nobody knows what it was. But the magnitude suggested either a huge earthquake (for which there was no real evidence, and bear in mind that Australia is, I think, located on a shield) or a nuclear explosion. Moreover, the epicentre was not to far away from a ranch bought by the Aum cult, the same one as repsonsible for the Tokyo subway Sarin attack.

I dont know if you like Sci-Fi, but Arthur C Clarkes “Hammer of God” is a good read, concerning a rogue asteroid (or was it a comet?)heading for Earth, and a group of astronauts that were trying to stop it.

As you say, Bio terrorism is more likely. Hasnt it already been proved what a determined group of terrorists can do with bio-chemicals in Tokyo?

RE: I’m scared of Global Thermonuclear War 🙂
Well I guess that depends on whether the victim actually knows who attacked them. If not, how can they retaliate (apart from by nuking Afghanistan for no apparent reason)?

Nuclear war. Virtual imposible. Nobody wants to commit suicide. Nuclear bombs were planed not be dropped, but as a deterrant. So as in the case of the boggey man; You will never see it. Relax, the world has more serious problems.:-)

RE: I’m scared of Global Thermonuclear War 🙂
Garry ,
I’m not that sure that nobody cares.
As far as I know, may teams over the worls are scanning the space in order to detect some asteroids able to destroy us.
The scenario develped in “Armagedon’ movie is real. the use of nuke to
destroy the rock is a possiblity and the NASA is working on it.

RE: I’m scared of Global Thermonuclear War 🙂
Global thermonuclear war is rather unlikely now, though some nutcase group turning some US city to ash is a possibility I suppose… though they are more likely to try to use a bio weapon instead… easier to import.
An asteroid strike wiping out the human race is far more likely, yet no one seems to care.

RE: I’m scared of Global Thermonuclear War 🙂
Like others have said it is a legacy we have lived with for 57 years. If it’s going to happen there is very little the ordinary man on the street will ever be able to do to stop it. I have other things which concern me far more: How long before I need a wheelchair full time? Am I going to develop retinopathy?
The threat of global thermonuclear war is not on my list of things I can spare time to worry about. Having said that, I believe the world becomes ever more dangerous and what the eventual outcome will be I just don’t know. But me worrying about it isn’t going to do any good.

Dave,
I think the write sentence would be:
The nuclear threat will always be there as long as there be nations (and/or terrorist groups) which have nuclear bombs/missiles! right?

RE: I’m scared of Global Thermonuclear War 🙂
Yeah Ive read quite a bit of Nostradamus, and it is a bit worrying if you wanna believe it all.
A nuclear war has been in has been in the backs of peoples minds for the past 57 years since Hiroshima and Nagasaki were wiped out by the A bomb.
JFK had us on the edge of our seats in the early ’60s with the Bay of Pigs incident.
The threat will always be there just as long as there are tyrants like Sadam Hussien and Osama bin Laden around, in fact any terrorist group.
So dont lose sleep over it mate, if it happens it happens!

Read Nosteradamus and the Bible code. We’ve been dead in planning for many years. Ah well, Revelations is no revelation to me.
Goodbye all.

The ship was carrying Scuds to Yemen for North Korea.
The Spanish intercepted it and handed over to the Americans. They have now released the ship and allowed it to continue, because Yemen were purchasing Scuds legitimately from North Korea.
