I am wondering how important AWACS / Tankers / EW platforms are to air battles today. If for instance, to equally capable sides but one without AWACS and the other with, what possible impact with there be?
I think this does depend on the conditions and capability of other assets (including ground based as well as AI radars on fighters) but a generalization if need be made can be made perhaps as follows:
1. AWACS makes your force about 20% more effective
2. Tankers 10%
3. Dedicated EW, 5%
What are your thoughts gentlemen?
