In Memory of Malcolm Clark

Aircraft paintings and models.
My Father passed away on 12th August. As an aviation enthusiast and former aero-engine and aircraft designer, he had a keen eye for detail. Much of his work was done from memory some were referenced from magasines. Often the colour schemes are how he would have liked to seen the aircraft and not necessarily how they appeared on Squadrons.

After he was diagnosed with cancer we made a few final visits to museums. We managed Newark, Midlands and the Air Atlantique open day in which he flew in a DC3. Unfortunately other plans such as the ARC open day did not happen as he became to ill.

I attach some photos of his work in his memory and hope you enjoy them.

In due course I would like to take copies of his paintings and have them made into a calendar. The proceeds of which would go to the Hospice which provided care for him at home during his final weeks.

He was also interested in steam railways and built a OO Gauge railway with 5 running tracks and numerous passing loops and stations. Much of this was made by hand including a number of the locos, machining components in his garage and loft. Unfortunately he didn’t manage o complete the railway scenery. He spent thousands of hours on his paintings and railway which a fantastic legacy for our family and others that share his interests.

He made this DH110 from odd bits of wood when he was an apprentice at deHavilland. The fuselage and wings are a single piece. The cockpit was made from a piece of Venom canopy and the jet pipes are from a piece of fuel pipe from a de Havilland engine (apologies as I don’t recall which).

That is very sad news of a man who was obviously very talented. I am very sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear your news Tim.

Words are always inadequate at times like these.

Look forward to seeing you soon at Shuttleworth or Duxford

So sorry for your loss Tim…as others have already quite rightly mentioned, your Dad clearly had some talent, those paintings are top notch (I especially like the TSR.2 one, partly because it’s one of my favourite aircraft, and partly because the chosen subject was not exactly a common aircraft…)

Those are lovely memories and hopefully in time they will bring a smile on your face and not so many tears.
