.. or rather, just outside of it…. Not sure if this post is in the right forum or not……?
1970 Ford Ranchero, 351 Cleveland powered. Not sure what VNE is yet. Should have the doors & fenders back on by the end of the week…
What? Ya telling me you never thought of painting a vehicle like a warbird? I think it looks quite spiffy:cool: 😎 😎 😎

I think he built 4 or 5 of them, I know at least one went up in flames…
No, just one. It wore two bodies though, one before and one after the fire.

Im pretty sure there was a guy in the UK that upset RR a wee bit when he chucked a Merlin into a car and then promptly put Rolls Royce badges on it and was “asked” to remove the badges before RR demanded riduclous amounts of money in compensation for copyright breach. ANyone else remember this as I was a wee sproglett at the time. Bex

Good luck with the Ranchero XRX61.
There is one official example I’m aware of where an RAF roundel was used on a car: It would have to be a Spitfire, of course. Triumph used it on bonnet badges for their MkIIIs but it was only used on cars sold in the USA during 1970. How obscure is that?
And also attached is an entirely gratuitous shot of my own MkIII Spitfire taken a few years ago. Gratuitous Spitfire photos are allowed here aren’t they. :diablo:

Looks great! Looking forward to seeing the progress! Are you going to paint the cargo/trunk interior green as well?
Probably going with a black interior & will get some spray in bedliner for the back.. but not sure yet what colour… If I use Zolatone it’s tintable 🙂
& there’s a very good chance of it ending up with “No Guts No Glory” on the drivers door….& the star & bar over the stripes..

You mean a Merlin won’t fit under the bonnet? 😉

But that would be a follow-on from the TR8 (Triumph cum Leyland?) that was, I think, a TR7 with a bigger engine rather than a Spitfire.
Yes – BMW kept the new Mini and all the historic “badges” when they sold Rover a few years ago.
So if BMW want to produce a Triumph TR9 they have inherited that right. They can also produce cars branded as Austin, Morris, Wolsley, Riley, Standard etc if they so wished – or sell/licence the brands to others. But nobody wants them.
The last TR was the TR8 – basically a TR7 with a Rover V8 engine.
Perhaps something more like this one?
Very nice Chris but on the six-cylinder TR6 the exhausts exit from the other side of the engine.
I’m sorry – this is an aviation forum and I’ve got the wrong anorak on 😮

TR9 may yet be the ‘moniker’ for a proposed sporting vehicle based on ‘new Mini’ technology. Mark.

Be fair, doesn’t that make it a Tr-IX, it is a 2 seater after all.

You might at least have done that to a Spitfire rather than a TR !!!!!

Right now it looks like the A-26 Ascher Ward owned 25 years ago! Silver with D-day stripes on.
