Incident at Manchester…

A runway was closed at Manchester Airport after a plane skidded as it came in to land on Wednesday.

The Eastern Airways jet from Hamburg was landing on Runway Two when the incident happened.

The plane, which was carrying 10 passengers and three crew, left the runway and went onto a grass area. The airport confirmed no-one was injured.

Two flights were diverted to Liverpool John Lennon Airport and Birmingham International Airport.

A spokeswoman for the airport said flight EZE1709 from Hamburg, Germany, landed at 1518 BST, two minutes ahead of its expected arrival time.

Both runways were suspended for about 10 minutes after the incident.

Runway One re-opened at about 1535 BST, and Runway Two remained closed while investigators inspected the scene.

Nice to see the Beeb using technical terms, runways one and two 🙂

Was this flight a charter flight? Dont think Hamburg is a regular destination for Eastern from MAN.

The Jetstreams are used quite extensively on charter routes, Hamburg is rather a long way for one though!

Yes it does indeed look like Meat Loaf was on-board. A quick search on Google reveals that he was playing Hamburg yesterday.

HAM-MAN must be a hell of a flight on J41, probably 2 and half hours! 😀

Believe the T3 J41 to have been carrying the singer “Meat Loaf” although that’s just a rumour for the moment

Could it have been a charter from Hamburg on Airbus’ behalf?

It could have been either rain drop 25 or 1004 that caused the aircraft to aqua plain……..

I think they are to be honest, but im pretty sure this is a charter flight anyway.

Eastern charge such high prices, im sure they still turn a profit with even 10 passengers.

What concerns me most when reading that article is the fact that the aircraft had only 10 passengers on board. Are Eastern Airways loads like this regularly?
