we’ve had a thunderstorm this afternoon, and as i had nothing better to do, i decided to take photos of it to try and catch a shot of a lightning strike. failing that, i decided to film it instead, complete with sound.
i filmed about 30 mins of it, and when i looked at the film on the pc later on, i found this. this is just a frame from the film, sorry about the quality. is it a trick of the camera, or is this realy possible – red lightning – is it lightning?
and no, it hasn’t been ‘photoshop’d’
what do ya think?

i’d love to post the entire footage, but its five megabytes in size. once my exams are over, i’ll be buying broadband and i’ll probably be able to post it somewhere on the internet, if you are interested.

I think what you may have captured is quite a rare sight on film, a type of lightning leader, in this case a ground streamer.
You probably had a very close stike just after you captured it on film.
Any way you can post the whole video or a clip somewhere ?
