After over two years, Indian Airlines board Wednesday gave its final nod to go ahead with its plans to buy 43 airbus aircraft, besides leasing nine wide-bodied planes.
At its meeting here, the board decided that the march 2002 proposal for acquiring 20 A-319s, 19 A-321s and four A-320s, “does not need to be revisited” and urged the government to take expeditious steps to secure the approval of the Public Investment Board (PIB), IA officials said.

Depends on the engine Skycruiser, the older birds with say the V2500-A1’s aren’t as sought after as those with V2500-A5’s! The newer CFM’s e.g the -214’s are sought after, but most are in service. If you want to make some money on A320’s lease -214’s or -232/-233’s to airlines 😛 the -211/-212/-213 and -231 are quite crap for leasing! Mind you, if you want an A320 then you will go with them.
Cheers for the info…………

737BG’s are harder to come by, and the B757 is a larger aircraft. That might be a reason! 😛
Thats exactly the reason.

I heard that second hand 320 are hard to get hold of at the moment. Lo cost startups here in Asia are struggling to get hold of machines.

Just like B737’s, and DC-9’s and MD-80’s…and B757’s, I hear they are going quite cheap
737NG’s have a higher resale value than the A320, as does the 757
DC-9s are too old and MD-80s are round about the same as a 737 classic

Air Asia has also indicated it was interested in purchasing up to 80 aircraft (A320). forty would be bought outright while another forty in option would be taken at a later date. This, I believe, would be the third large order for the A320 in the last two or three weeks.
It makes a lot of “computers” in the air … :diablo:

Reuters released a story today which states a government commission recommended that Indian Airlines be allowed to complete negotiations with Airbus to purchase these forty-three aircraft (19xA319, 4xA320 and 20xA321). These aircraft would be equipped with CFM-56 powerplants. It is unknown when the contracts will be signed.
