Indian National Civil Aircraft

India is apparently launching a regional jet. Under the name of National Civil Aircraft. In the hope to bring up Indian Tier II and III suppliers upto speed. I am presuming that it would be companies such as QuEST, TATA advance materials, mahendra, Taneja etc…

The project’s estimated cost is 75.6 billion rupees ($1.7 billion), of which the design and development phase will cost 43.5 billion rupees, and production about 32 billion rupees, the minister says.

A lot of emphasis is being put on design for the initial phase.

By the sounds of things they are not going to iterate the design, i.e. it will be designed, someone will try to make it as per design and that is about it.. no trials or iterations seem to be mentioned… Wonder how accurate you can get with weights and loads and thereafter performance on that approach?

Some western countries have also signed up to the program apparently no details as yet.
