Individual Hurricane histories

There are sources for individual Spitfire histories, both on line and in print, but does any thing similar exist for the Hurricane?

I have Francis Mason’s book ‘The Hawker Hurricane: An Illustrated History’ which has a listing of sorts at Appendix IV, but this list is missing aircraft and some of the details there are incomplete.

I would be grateful if someone can point me to any other sources.

Thanks for the suggestion John, but as ‘Sopwith’ alluded to, I am after a list of Hurricanes with their histories. Looks like this hasn’t been done yet, ala the Spitfire histories which are available in several places

There just might be some information in McKinstry’s book on the Hurricane that’s useful to the OP.

Just checked my Leo McKinstry book and there isn’t a list of all Hurricane histories.

Ah, thank you John.

I have Leo’s book on the Spitfire, but wasn’t aware he’d done one on the Hurricane as well.

I’ll chase it up, appreciate the lead. Thank you.

“Hurricane”,  Leo McKinstry, ISBN 978-1-84854-341-6.  Pub., John Murray £8.99.

This might help your quest.

The exercise has been done for the Spitfire. I was hoping it may also have been done for the Hurricane. There were MANY more Spitfires built, so the Hurricane would be a doodle by comparison…. 🙂

Hmmmmmm … at more than 14,000 airframes, such a list is getting into Encyclopedia Brittanica territory …

Perhaps the OP could pop down to Hendon and make a start on transcribing the Air Ministry form 78 of 14,000+ aircraft? Easy.

Thanks guys, appreciate the leads. However, I am looking for information on ALL Hurricanes, a complete listing so to speak, not just survivors.

I would suggest “Hawker Hurricane Survivors”, by Gordon Riley
