GLONASS TO BE SHOWN AT KRASNOYARSK SPACE SHOW

MOSCOW, December 3 (RIA Novosti) – The Reshetov scientific and industrial association will present its latest developments for the Glonass navigational system at the Siberian aerospace show (SAKS 2004) in Krasnoyarsk, which opened today, a spokesman for organizing committee told RIA Novosti.

“It is a large-scale project which includes space and ground equipment,” Viktor Kazanstev, a leading Glonass expert. “And at SAKS 2004 we hope to find good partners including companies in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.”

The head of the Federal Space Agency (Roskosmos), Anatoly Perminov, told RIA Novosti before his trip to India that India would be Russia’s strategic partner in the further development and use of Glonass.

“We have agreed to conclude an agreement on the joint development and use of the Russian global navigation satellite system [Glonass] for peaceful purposes,” he said, “and also an agreement on peaceful cooperation in space.

“It is very important for us, because in Russia, the space part of this navigation system has not yet been completed and in India this system does not exist at all.

“We have agreed not only to jointly restore this system but also to transfer it to new space systems, Glonass-M and Glonass-K.”
