I’m getting more and more interrested in the use of infantry. There are some countries which have very good soldiers (not talking about special forces) like the American Marines and the Israeli soldiers.
In my country (Belgium btw) we have something like our paracommando’s. Well trained and capable of operating in extremely difficult circumstances, without air support or support from armoured vehicles on the ground. You simply drop them from one of our 11 C-130’s in hostile territory and they can start immediatelly with their operation. They have been used in many missions in Africa, both military and humanitarian operations. Unfortunattely, we don’t have decent support and attack helicopters in Belgium, so for them, the C-130 is the only option. BTW, the paracommando’s are NO special forces.
Any comments? I would like to hear something more about Dutch Infantry (they have good helicopters, cougars and apaches), french but also from other countries around the globe.
