I have this listed as crashing at Duxford on the 27/8/58 whilst with 56 Sqn when the engine cut whilst overshooting, but Francis Masons book on the Hunter only mentions that it was scrapped 1/59.
Just wondered if this has been confused with F.6 XG133 of 263 Sqn which crashed fatally into the trees on take off on the 7/9/58… or if it was actually a totally separate aircraft and incident?

The pilot of XG133 was F/O G.K.Moore. See attached for report on crash,
Jim

Thanks guys. Seems pretty conclusive that its two separate incidents.
Any idea on the names of those involved?

Taken from David J. Griffin’s book:
“WN976 – The aircraft was badly damaged in an emergency landing at Duxford after the engine failed. w/o 27-08-58”
This is the best that I can come up with.

From the same book:
XG133 crashed at Duxford and w/o 07/09/58

I have XG133/A as being with 19 Sqn. in the 27 a/c flypast at Farnborough the day before it crashed at Duxford when taking off to return back to base on the Sunday
