Injured Soldiers flown into UK

Injured soldiers flown into UK

The servicemen were met by paramedics at the airport
Military personnel who have been injured or taken ill while serving in Iraq and the Gulf have been flown into Manchester Airport.
The chartered flight landed just before 1030 GMT with 22 soldiers and other servicemen and women on board.

Eleven ambulances were waiting for them at the aircraft maintenance area.

Paramedics went on board the aircraft to assess the patient’s conditions.

Six people were taken to Wigan Infirmary suffering from a range of non-combat illnesses, including kidney infection and hernias.

It is not yet known how many on board had combat injuries.

Since this was a chartered aircraft landing at a commercial airport does anyone have any ideas whether or not it was a civil transport aircraft, and if so what?

Cheers

Don’t be ridiculous, do you think that anything we say here will help a terrorist or a spy any more than any old bar conversation?

Injured Iraqi baby lands in UK

It is not known how the baby received her injuries
An Iraqi baby with burn injuries has landed in the UK along with coalition troops requiring medical treatment.
The six-month-old girl was flown to RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus before being taken on to Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

The chartered plane touched down at 1120 BST on Monday.

The girl was then taken to an intensive care unit at Liverpool’s Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, where doctors said she was in a “stable condition”.

The hospital released a statement which read: “We can confirm that a six-month-old Iraqi girl is being treated at the hospital for burns.

‘Combat injuries’

“She is being treated in the intensive care unit and after an initial assessment is said to be stable.”

A Ministry of Defence (MOD) spokesman could not say how severe the girl’s injuries are, or how she received them.

Nine injured British troops made the five-hour flight alongside the Iraqi baby.

Four walking wounded were allowed home, and another four stretcher cases were taken to the Royal Liverpool Hospital with “combat injuries”.

The ninth soldier was taken to the burns unit at nearby Whiston Hospital.

An Army spokesman said: “There were 10 casualties on board, one of whom was an Iraqi civilian.

“Some of the injured troops are walking wounded and others have burns.”

There was movement at EMA yesterday when a Britannia 757-200 arrived from Cyprus with 18 Gulf personnel aboard. It was interesting to note that the a/c had no company titles or reg visible!
