A bit of background: I work for an educational facility, specifically an Aeronautical Engineering course. We have a fairly large number of instruments and some other parts lying around, basically not doing much. I would like to use this collection more, partly for educational purposes but also as display items, but for this I need information. I do not have any information about these items apart from what I can see on the dials.
For this I would like to use the accumulated wisdom on these forums to see if we can come up with some information about these items. I’ll kick this off with two instruments, but you can expect a lot more items over the next weeks.
1. Airspeed indicator Kollsman, NY. Part no (on dial) 739DX-4-057-6519
2. Altimeter (Kollsman) Sperry gyroscope company of Canada.

I work for an aircraft instrument overhaul facility and we have overhaul manuals for nearly all the instruments you show there right up to photo 12.
If you’d like to PM me I could arrange for you to talk to our MD about what you’d like. I have no say in that sort of thing as I’m only a mere employee. Although I have worked on some of the ones you show and could at the very least get them apart for you if you’d like to see whats inside as it were.
Hope this will help.

I should add that many of these parts may have a Dutch connection, your CF-104 made me realise that Dutch NF-5s were built in Canada.

What I’m looking for right now is along the lines of:
With this I can at least offer more information to our students, and one or two (hopefully more) instruments might prove more useful to us than they are now.
Keith, I’ll send you a PM (today or tomorrow).

3. Directional Gyro (Compass bearing) aircraft circa 1940’s.
4. Large Turn and Slip, British aircraft miltary or civilian circa 1940’s
5. MKIII Automatic pilot, from memory I think I’ve seen these on DC-3 Dakota’s, I’m sure that they would have been attributed to other aircraft.
7. Gyro compass this looks like the Mk4B type (B for Bomber) would have been fitted to British Military cold war types such as, Canberra, Varsity, Victor Mk1, Valiant, Pembroke etc

Runway 06, thanks!
The CF-104 or for that matter NF-5 options are out for number 2. I checked some photos on internet and they use a drum and single pointer type.
Anyone?
