Insurance and the Dutch Constellation

I just received the latest issue of Verenigde Vleugels (a magazine about Dutch historic aviation). In his introduction Arno van der Holst (director of the Aviodrome) mentions the fact that the Aviodrome is not able to keep the Connie flying due tot rises in insurance-premiums. The premiums have risen from 12.000 Euro in 2004 to 65.000 Euro in 2005.

Apparently the new European legislation has claimed another victim.

Well, if it don’t fly this year, it will fly next year. I have no doubt the Aviodrome will get it in the air again in due course.

Well it sucks TWICE so that’s OK, Flood…
Bloody regulations from hell… 🙁
What’s next? Cars with alloy wheels will have to pay triple insurrance because *insert BS reason here*?
