Would anyone know which Squadron the two Defiants which tried to intercept Hess belonged to? The Duke of Hamilton who met Hess and was stationed at RAF Turnhouse at the time mentioned in a Post War interview that Hurricanes were also sent to intercept the flight but I have not been able to find anything further on them – would anyone have have any more?

Thank you both for the information. I will do some more digging on 141 Squadron for the details. Interesting about Robin Lucas – another one gone to his final reward, sadly. I have not found anything on the Hurricanes mentioned by the Duke of Hamilton.
