Hi folks.
Just wanted to drop in a post regarding this evenings flight LGW-MAN. Quite an interesting switch from a 737-400 right up the scale to a 777-200 :D. Wasn’t sure what was going on at first when i walked up to gate 55J to be met by a tripple? Assumed we were getting bussed out to another a/c but no, this was to be the ship taking us to MAN. I believe it was G-YMMR.
I enquired with the CC regarding the swap but they didn’t know the reason for the switch(or didn’t want to say?)
Anyway, just thought i would share with you. Maybe one of you can shed some light on the switch?
Was i excited? YES. Does this make me a geek? Who cares 🙂

Quite a regular thing for shuttle flights to be operated by 767/777s, once caught a 777 back to GLA simply cos the 757 was in a service.
Remember way back in the eighties seeing the shuttle arrive at GLA in the shape of Concorde a few times… THAT would have been a pleasant surprise for the pax!!
Yes strange but true, I too remember the the Manchester – London scheduled shuttle being operated by Concorde on a few occasions.

PAPATANGO. Welcome. I was expecting a welcoming committee at the AVP but it was deserted. It looked closed, having said that, Manchester was basking in its normal crap weather so that may be why?

First post of mine this. Been lurking for ages but thought I’d register today (not just for this reply though 🙂 )
G-YMMB operated the same flight on 24 August, I was Southside at Ringway when it arrived and it made a pleasant and surprising change from the norm.

My contacts tell me that there are industrial disputes around Europe (France?) that have caused the 737’s to be all out of position.
Yea, this is the case. My flight to Zurich this morning is currently showing a two hour delay.
@ Tartan. Love the Concorde story. That would have been something special.

My contacts tell me that there are industrial disputes around Europe (France?) that have caused the 737’s to be all out of position. So, unlike some airlines flying 737’s around Europe, BA called in a standby crew and used a “spare” aircraft to do the service.
Today (23rd) there might be some flights dropping in for fuel to cross the Atlantic due to the strikes.
