I think it is the very first ‘let the punters know whats going on’ cabin display.

I reckon its fitted to a Rapide.

😀 That is what I was alluding to when I said “Is this a modified passenger cabin repeater panel from perhaps an aeroplane of the empire routes of the twenties/thirties?

Altitude, speed, time and I believe the G&T (Gin &Tonic..) contents gauge is missing from the group?”

Anyone have any idea as to why the altimeter is set at such a jaunty angle?

Regards

John.

P.S. Superb pics by the way.

Georgous looking Dragon. Nice pics. As an aside, I did a number of trips in the Rapide that used to be based at Caernarfon years ago, but I don’t think it had a “passengers flight information panel”. It was a terribly civilised way to travel, though.

Yup. Got it. Not actually a Dragon Rapide but good enough for me.

Dairy Flats NZ April 2006.

A lovely old thing. 🙂

Guesses only? Well, I’ll try a stab at it.
Lets see.

Second picture shows 88 knots, approx 200 feet and 1729 hrs (well, it is daylight).

First picture shows 106 knots, approx 1750 feet and 1732 hrs.

So, in order to gain 500 feet per minute, you are driving very quickly up a mountain,
or
You are fortunate enough to be in the cabin of a classic aircraft.

And if this is heading ‘rapidly in the right direction’ at 106 knots, then I shall agree with Hairyplane and guess that is is one DeHavilland Rapide.

Prizes to Hairyplane cuss he got there first.

Because it’s what anoraks do, silly 😀

Actually it’s more to do with the effect on the bowels and head following a bloody good barbecue the night before, well, thats my excuse anyway.
It’s getting warm, I’d better take my anorak off I think.

Looks as if they are hanging up in an old caravan with a fair amount of damp penetration, and why are the numbers on the altimeter on the skew.
Is it to inform drunken holiday makers that their caravan is about to go over the cliffs at Caister.
Why are we doing this at 7:30 on a Saturday morning.

Is this a modified passenger cabin repeater panel from perhaps an aeroplane of the empire routes of the twenties/thirties?

Altitude, speed, time and I believe the G&T contents gauge is missing from the group?

AndyG,

Heading rapidly in the right direction.

Think dynamic.

Alex

No. Bad camera, but ‘era’ in lies the hint.

I say again. Look closely at the instruments

Your ‘heart’ is not in this.

The original question was rhetorical.

Notice anything about the instruments?
