International civil Register books from Air – Britain – question

Dear aviation fans and International Register experts !

Who knows – have the “Air – Britain” books about international civil aircraft Registers, edited by I. P. Burnett (for example, “Civil Aircraft Registers of Colombia”, “Australia, New Zealand and the SW Pacific Islands Civil Aircraft Registers”, “Civil Aircraft Registers of Africa,” and so on), only current (to Date) Registers information, or they contain also historic Registers – from the beginning of civil aviation in particular country up to Present days ?

I should like to buy some of such books, and my main interest are the historic registers of different countries. I shall pleased to get any advices and opinions from You about those I. P. Burnett’s books.

Air Britain has a small number of those older registers still available for sale, as I saw some on the sales stand at Popham last week. Drop an email to sales@air-britain.co.uk and someone will get back to you with what is available. Also the Air Britain Archive magazines serialises complete registers e.g. its currently publishing Yugoslavia from 1945

Alternatively visit the Air-Britain Vintage & Classic Fly-In at North Weald on 14-15 June and visit the sales stand there where new and second hand books will be available.

Flyer……….

You need the 1981 Africa Register book for the historic registers. I also have the 1988 book but that only contains the then current registers.

Take a look here http://www.ab-ix.co.uk/, several historic registers are available…..

The Southern Europe volume is not a complete register but because of its age it has a lot of good historical data in it if you see what I mean! I think the same goes for the B, E & P book although I am not certain. The general rule is that if the title has ‘current’ or a ‘year’ in it then it is not a complete register to the point of publication. It is worth pointing out that all A-B books and pamphlets published between 1948 and 1975 are available on three CDs so possibly a cheaper way of getting them than via e-Bay etc. All magazines are available too although from 1948 to 2006 equates to buying 12 CDs. Full details on the A-B website.

Thank You very much, Mr David ! I always know, that You will help – if someone needs help.

And what about “Southern Europe and the Middle East Civil Aircraft Registers” and “Civil Registers of Bolivia, Ecuador and Paraguay” A-B books ? Have they the historic chapters ?

From my own collection I can tell you that Denmark, Netherlands (both Archive Specials) and the Colombia, Africa, South-East Asia, Chile, Venezuela and Central America & Caribbean registers are all historic. I do not have the Oz/NZ/Pacific volume. However, this does not apply to all of the A-B registers, some of which are ‘current’ only.
