Lovely pictures. Brings back memories of the RNG&SA at Lee-onSolent in the late 50’s. We also used balloon winches and if I remember correctly we would get our T-21 up to 1200 feet on the launch. One of the members used his Austin A-105 Westminster for car tows off the hard runway.
Happy Days!

Bill

Don’t know if these are still around but as a member of the Bannerdown gliding club in the good old days of the RAF based at Colerne. I remember the T21. K6. and Bosan. We used Balloon winches and 2 mk9 Jaguars for launching.

Lots of lovely old gliders at Lasham. I had to come home today. Have to get back to work. Our old Grunau Baby 11b and Slingsby Kirby Kite 1 are there. Dad ( Peter Underwood) also came home so he could get on with our prototype Kirby Kite 1. I had a few people try to buy my Kite 1’s off me.

ETPS had 2 Oly 2B’s in the blue colour scheme (VV400 & VV401). In the photo VV401 is painted to represent the ETPS aircraft whilst VV400 in the rear is the genuine aircraft that has been recently restored and based at Rivar Hill.

The 2 seat primary glider is called a 2G and was built and normally based in Denmark.

Nice pics, WB981, of some interesting machines.

I have a soft spot for gliders from my aeromodelling days. There’s something about the pure flight element combined with the grace and beauty of many designs.

What’s the story behind the gliders in the third picture in each of your posts?

Anon.
