Found this on YouTube…
Exclusive interview with Captain Eric ‘Winkle’ Brown at the launch of special exhibition at Farnborough Air Sciences Trust (FAST) Museum at Farnborough UK.
If you’ve read “Wings of the Weird & Wonderful” Vol. 2 You’ll already know about his flight in P7117 and his profound disappointment in it’s handling qualities… 😮

So are all those Whirlwind pilot’s stories about the Whirly being a “Gentlemens Aeroplane” untrue or was Captain Eric Brown being a bit over jealous for his embryo test pilot role, or was it he was unlucky to pick a knackerd Whirlwind…

Hi Stu,
I will try to find the notes for the one guy I can quote.
The other I can’t quote fully at the moment, as it was part of the deal of him telling me, maybe sometime in the future, after he has taken his last flight…..
Cheers
Jerry

I must admitt, amongst the whirlwind pilots I spoke to, two said it was a b***** dangerous aircraft to fly and they were glad when they had stopped flying them.
B***** dangerous… 😀
Hi Jerry
Can you tell us why they thought it B***** Dangerous… 😉

I thought I had changed that last night…
Now I find I’m unable to do so myself, would a passing mod do so for me please?
By: pagen01 - 28th February 2011 at 09:07
I must concur, mods need to change the title slightly!

I’ve met Capt Brown a couple of times and he’s a fantastic guy!
Just a quick note and I hope you don’t mind me asking – but do you think the title could be changed to ‘Interview with…’? Only reason is that the current title looks like it could be a link to an obituary.
Said and done… 😉

I have to agree with AJ Marsh, I also read the thread title with a lump in my throat.
