Into Russian aircraft ?

Hi All,
Just been on our very own Skyraider3D Ronnie Olthsoorn’s Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/AviationArt.Aero which showed the magnificent lL-2 below which in turn you can link to this Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/wingsofvictory.ru/?hc_ref=ARSV5GWOP-JRYDxIU6yY4XcZRpBqhZpMQc9oAK67wtzWm9CRiXhZrucMT6yg dIHR_uA where anybody who loves Russian aircraft can get a fix but you will need to have a translator app to read the Russian descriptions. Being honest the pictures and videos do it for me…:D

Zac, it would seem that Vadim Zadorozhny and the Wings of Victory Foundation go hand in hand, as I believe all of the aircraft I’ve seen the Foundation supporting and promoting are those owned by Zadorohzny. In addition to the warbirds I’ve listed that fly in my previous post, Zadorozhny owns a number of other non-flying warbirds, including a couple Hurricanes (restored and partially restored), a Yak-3, a Yak-9, a preserved/unrestored Yak-1, a Bf-109G, a Yak-15 and an F-84, in addition to others, all displayed at his museum in Moscow.

The big warbird restoration company in Russia is the “Aeronautical Research Bureau”/”Aviarestavratsiya” company in Novosibirsk, Siberia, headed by Boris Osetinsky, which has been responsible for the restorations/builds of the flying Polikarpov fighters, Mig-3’s and the Il-2’s.

That Facebook page is a non-profit organization that is connected to the private collection of flying WWII aircraft in Russia, setup to help fund the restorations/operations, which includes the Russian-based Il-2, a couple Mig-3’s, three Polikarpov fighters, a PO-2 and a T-6 (and I think they’ve also branched into WWI aircraft/replicas as well) – the same entity which first announced the intention of bringing the Il-2 to Flying Legends this summer. One of their current goals is to restore a Tupolev TU-2 to fly.

Can you tell me more about Russian ground and preserving/restoring WB’s?

John: you mentioned the Tu-2, is Vadim Zadorozhny connected to this group at all? I seem to remember chat online or in a magazine of his interest in a flying example.
