wonderfull sight to see!
This will probably be one of the 737-200’s with the lowest cycles in the world, its been sitting idle for 13 years!

Having said that… I’m not sure this is an original Iraqi 737…. their previous fleet had a YI reg prefix…. this has a 9L

Indeed a great site to see, it looks great.
Not so sure I would be too keen on spotting in Baghdad though 😉

Hence the note at the bottom of my posting….. 😉

Ooooh maybe not, Sandy. It’s msn 22885 and it worked for US Air/US Airways from 13/05/1983 until passing into the hands of Metrojet on 1/11/1999.
It joined Alkarba Air (still the current owners) on 4/12/2003 and started working for Iraqi Airways on the 15th of this current month.
It wasn’t one of the original Iraqi Airways 737 “Classics”, one of which was destroyed in a terrorist attack in Jordan in 1986.
I think – but don’t quote me – that one of the remaining B737s fled to Iran in 1991 and was “appropriated” for use by Iran Air.
Perhaps someone can shed more light on this?
hence my adding:
