Hello all,
Bit of a random one – am planning a diorama with an IAC Spit TR.9 had a quick google but couldnt find when the last was struck off charge – was planning to add the Airfix Bedford TK Refueller to it – but whilst the truck was introduced in 1959 I dont know whether the IAC used them – or indeed what fuel trucks they used – and whether there would be a time period where both types were in service. If not, anyone know what the IAC used as a tanker?
Many thanks in advance!

do you know when the last TR.9 was SOC by the Irish?
The last flight of 163 took place on 9 September 1961. That is not necessarily the SOC date. Some soldiered on as Ground Instructional airframes up to the BoB film of 1967/8

Was this picture in-service or was the tanker a “bitza” made to be blown up in a film?
Both shots are ‘in service’ with the IAC at Baldonnel.

that second photo is interesting
Looks like a Leyland Comet in the background, but the one in front looks like a pre-war W Type Bedford with a tank added – The tank almost looks as if it originated on one of those Brockhouse trailers often seen during the war. Was this picture in-service or was the tanker a “bitza” made to be blown up in a film?
