Irvin/Martin Baker Parachute re-packing

Hi all

bit of a long shot request for you – does anyone have, or know anyone with, the ability to re-pack an Irvin/Martin Baker parachute back into it’s base pack? I’ve got one from a 2CA Canberra seat that has had it’s cord pulled and the whole damn thing has erupted into a pile of orange and white silk that’s impossible to store properly. I would guess my best bet would a serving armourer in a seat bay somewhere, but alas, I no longer know any.

Any leads gratefully received

Thanks

Timbo

You sound like you’ve done a few Dave – fancy one more for old time’s sake? 😀

If i was bit nearer i’de help. I’de recomend the SES services place. Dell Hall who runs it is very helpfull & has ANYTHING to do with safety equipment & facilities for servicing it all,
Dave

Thanks for your input Rich, much appreciated.

I have a few good leads now so will start ringing around – looks daunting but it seems there are still a crazy few out there willing to attempt the seemingly impossible and fit what looks like 300 square feet of silk into a backside sized pack!

rather them than me 😮

Parachute repacking

Give these guys a call;

www.survival-eq-services.com

They’re a small company of ex-RAF parachute riggers / survival equipment specialists & have the know-how & parts to do the job. I’ve used them several times in the past & can thoroughly recommend them. Don’t be put off by the fact that the website is geared towards “live” equipment, they’re more than happy to overhaul equipment for display uses too.

Hope this helps

Rich

good idea!

Aah, now that’s a grand idea! As a service engineer I drive through Talgarth quite often, I may just have to divert on my next call 😀

Thanks very much for your input, much appreciated

Your local gliding club (Talgarth??) will have someone who repacks parachutes regularly..you could give them a ring for advice or a name?
