Seeing all the havoc in the aviation market, i was just wondering if the A380 is going to face consequences in the future due to this slum in the market. Boeing recently scrapped there plan of the long range version of the 777. Also A380 only has about 60 orders in its pocket….maybe less now. I have heard Air France also scrapping some of there orders while Fed Ex are going to announce about there A380s order very soon. What are your views?

RE: Is A380s future bright?
Hard to get a rise out of folks these days. Must be the post Sep 11 styndrome. However, to respond to your question about the future of the A380, I think that its going to be a rocky road. For the moment the airlines are fighting to survive. The airline business is a money loser and thats not going to change until we are down to 12(?) or so large airlines worldwide that can profitably share the long haul routes which are the only ones that need the A380. Meantime, the airlines will probably put their limited funds into the large twins and the short haul commuter jets. Euro pride and public money may carry the A380 into production but IMO its will be delayed and when it does go ahead it will be a long time before it earns it’s keep.

RE: Is A380s future bright?
I don´t think the project will be affected since we are talking about a plane which is not in production yet. Things will improve as passengers come back to planes again and the levels of passenger growth come to regular figures. In the US things are starting to normalize. In the case of this plane any order has been cancelled. It´s a long term project and lots of things could happen before we could see the first A380. The development could be slowed a couple of years, I don´t foresee additional problems.
