Is any Members' name acceptable?

Does the computer automatically accept any name that a new member might offer or does it have to be authorised in the first instance? My question arises from the name of our latest member, HotLesbianBabes, cannot see an aeronautical connection immediately?

Nicknames

Ive done the same as Barnowl, my nickname is “Bex” short for Rebecca, and I thought an aviation link would be ideal as this is an aviation forum, so WH773 was added as Im restoring the Old Lady. Bex

My handle is a nickname I had when I was at school (and when I first registered) at a time where even my teachers called me Barnowl or Barnie.

It got so silly at one point that a girl I was seeing once asked why I signed things as Andy when my name was Barnie. We’d been going out for six months at that point…

So in my defence, when I registered Barnowl pretty much was my name.

STEVE WHO??

Hehe ..unfortunately it’s the name on my birth certificate and i can’t do much about it

Hi Steve, I am also a Steve, but does it really matter what we call ourselvesup to a point. This was the first Forum that I joined & I took it for granted that all members were expected to use some sort of pseudonym that probably only meant anything to themselves,I imagine that most new members have had similar thoughts. No prizes for guessing who I named myself after. However I dont think there is room for HotLesbianBabes type of names,it is fairly harmless but it just opens the door for the sort of names that would reduce the credibility of this Forum. There are plenty of other forums that allow this sort of thing if people are determined to try those sort of psuedonyms.

Hey, pretty old certificate, almost as old as mine! And another question, why do some members have a history of their last visit on their profile and some don’t.

I don’t think there’s any verification. Most likely a spammer, will be taken care of.

Edit: I checked, the name isn’t there anymore. If I remember correctly, there is now a manual acceptation procedure by the webmaster.

I don’t know why so many people use a pseudonym and not their God given names..i can understand the young lads using silly names but the older posters have me perplexed
