Is anyone interested in a Mig21?

The title says is all?… Is anyone interested in a MIG 21?… http://allegro.pl/item294489527_mig_21.html

To give a quick translation, it says the aircraft is complete, with engine. All that is missing is the pilots watch (I assume thats the clock). The current price is £5000 but I think the reserve is higher!!

I can imagine the conversation-

“Darling, i’ve bought something for the garden, all we’ve got to do is move the washing line and rearrange the gnomes”

“Ooh, that hanging basket we were looking at? Ahh, you’re so thoughtful”

“Err, not quite…”

When the Gannet had no home I did mention to my other half that we could put it in the garden.
First answer was “it won’t fit” and she was almost certainly right ( a Pitts Special would be a tight fit) but I did try “it would if I folded the wings” at which point I was informed that I already had a motorbike and car to restore in the garage as well as a room full of stuff I sell on Ebay and that was quite enough for any man.
So it looks like even a Pitts is out of the question unless I can afford to buy the empty bungalow next door. Damn

Hi Daniel!
The last I heard was that he’s trying to figure out how to put all the pieces together! I must go down and see how he’s getting on, and take some photos of the “jigsaw puzzle”.

Now that’s the kind of jigsaw puzzle I’d like someone to give me.

ah thanks for that 🙂 still 10k for a two seat mach two interceptor that looks like it would be at home eating a raw zebra, is a fair price 😀

slightly confuzzled about the price. i think it says the starting bid is 1000,00 ZL which at current exchange rates is £206  though my polish isn’t what it once was 😎

Nashio… It also says “Cena minimalna nie została osiągnięta”. My polish isn’t what it should be, but minimalna = minimum nie=not/no!!!!

To put that into English… The reserve has not been met! I only know the 10k figure because I (my girlfriend actually!) sent the guy an e-mail.

Looks like a nice jet… I like the paint job!

How about this one… Only 10k (Euro!)

http://allegro.pl/item310756746_eksponat_samolotu_mig_21_um.html

Basically it says it complete, but demilitarized! Price includes assembly.

Just for the anoraks: 😎 Serial is reported to be c/n 50023098

Thank you!

Funny though… 10yellow at Riga is c/n 50023100. Now where would we find 23099, and would it be coded 91/2?

Variant designation. MiG-21SMT. Or, if you wish, a Modified version of the MiG-21S (hence MiG-21SM) with a fat spine for fuel, or toplivo in Russian (hence MiG-21SMT).

Daniel, do you happen to have a slightly clearer or bigger picture of the lower wing? It shows the construction number on the wheelbay door, and possibly on the pylon as well. Anoraks want to know…

Besides, it would be nice (but not likely) if it would precede the c/n of the one marked 10yellow, which is preserved in Riga.

Aircraft in garden

Funny to read some of the above comments about the Missus and her rection to an aircraft arriving in the garden!

2 simple rules really chaps …Firstly, get rid of the Missus if shes not into aviation and secondly, get a girl with her OWN airframes! …I did!

We now have a complete Lightning airframe, Lightning F1 nose and Harrier T4 nose in our garden used as birdboxes.

My girlie owns the Harrier nose and recently, struck a deal on complete airframe Hunter WT711 (soon to be moved from Coventry to snuggle up next to the Lightning).

She is priceless as im sure you’d agree and no, shes not for sale!

Some photos of Svedino’s MiG-21.

It’s a (fairly) rare SMT variant……

There was a MiG-21 at the 1990 Farnborough show with a price tag on it of around £50K if I remember rightly. I’d just sold my house and as I didn’t want a lot of money hanging around I’d just ‘parked’ it in my current account over the weekend.
It crossed my mind that I could have signed a cheque for the MiG and it wouldn’t have bounced. But the effect on my marraige may have been a bit drastic!

Looks like it’ll need new tyres to pass MOT:eek: 😮 .

I remember reading a story a few years ago from a chap who’d told his Mrs he’d bought something for the garden.

She was very excited, she got very, very, very excited when she found out he’d spent £2000 on an ex-FAA Whirlwind.

Apparently,he reckoned she got awfully excited when she found out about the transport costs too.

Im sure you could find somewhere on her to hang the hanging basket. Im sure there is space for the the washing to. Garden gnome can live on the ejector seat. 😀 :p

My friend Björn Svedfelt has just acquired one for his Svedinos Museum here in Ugglarp, but I daren’t ask him what he paid for it! I will however ask him where he got it from (I bet Sierra Echo Fred knows already!)

PL, I believe Svedino’s MiG was a deal in this category: ‘Please remove it for us we don’t want this piece of junk outside our store anymore’ (I’m not saying it’s junk though, but it does need a lot of TLC). I imagine the greatest cost was for the transport. Cheers, Daniel
