Is chinese S7/FC-1 good?

hi,
Ijust need some neutral opinion on whether the Fc-1/S7 would be any good when it is ready. Some people say that it has a thrust vectoring nozzle(modified RD-33)and FBW, with intent to have BVR systems later also. I understand that it is primarily for Pakistan since chinese have a better J-10 being produced. If so, then can people tell me why it is any better than the F-7mg, if better at all. Additionally, which generation would FC-1/S7 belong to ?
