Is it just a rumour?.

Talking to a brother whilst down South a couple of weeks ago, he stated he had heard that there was a crashed Lancaster, on the Seaward side of the Plymouth Breakwater.
I have used the search facility here but can find no mention.
Is this just one of the “Crashed Lancaster” stories that some would have us believe, or is it true?.

Yes. DARRT Recovered a main wheel tyre assembly from this one in the 1970’s. Engines still there but as the Youtube video shows very badly broken up.

Hi, Many thanks for the link, It was a very unfortunate incident for the crew, and the old girl that nearly got them home.
Just goes to show, that some rumours, are in fact true.

It’s true I think, as I’ve seen underwater photos, but it looked pretty broken-up…!
