Is SARS back?

SARS REAPPEARS

29 Dec 2003

A man suffering symptoms of SARS has been admitted to hospital in China’s Guangdong province. The patient is not thought to have travelled outside the region, where the bug first emerged in 2002. If confirmed, it would be China’s first case since July 2003.

I agree, sometimes a perceived overreaction is what actually helps to contain things like this. Yeah it was probably overhyped, but you can’t argue with the fact that had such attention not been given, there could have been many more deaths.

just like mad cow…do you ban American beef? The question isn’t what kills more, it’s about level of contageousness and how much unknown is involved. You’re lucky for what you called “hype” because without it is how history wrote outbreaks.

What is it about mildly lethal diseases that fascinate people so much?

I remember when people avoided Canada due to SARS while you’re more likely to get killed in a car accident on any given day.

Here here mate.

I live in Hong Kong and I have never been so pi##ed of at the media for all the hype. It’s all a load of tosh. Do you have any idea how many people are dying from AIDS.

Scientists were expecting some cases back with winter. I read that last summer , so I guess it’s not a surprise.
