Is the F-16 the Grandfather of the JF-17 Thunder & FC-1 Xiaolong

Folks,

The more I look at photos and read about the Chinese FC-1 (ie I doubt the Paks had much to do with it, even though it is almost national-religious hysteria in that country about their JF-17 Thunder), I keep thinking that Pakistan, gave China one of their earlier F-16s and said, design something like this only smaller and cheaper to build. Am I having delusions or am I sort of correct?
