Heard during Aero India that the PLAN has inked a deal for transfer of technology of the TU-22 M lines to China – not sure if this is true – but if it is its significant strategic shift in the balance as the Backfire is still a potent threat

To be fair, Backfires for India would make far more sense than for China.

Maybe the deal was that India gets the first few off the new Chinese production line?!.
..and the PLAN sell the rest through ASDA and Walmart 🙂

They’re going to have to share if they have as I clearly recall many ‘knowing’ forum remarks alluding to a deal that was going to see Backfires going to India as part of the hush-hush deals strung on to the Gorshkov purchase!.

It’s as true as that USS Kitty Hawk is going to be sold to the Indian navy.

Whilst nothing is impossible and China has surprised us more then once with unusual procurement decisions so far this appears to be an unfounded rumour from an Indian blogger.
Unfortunately the nature of the internet being what it is any rumour will develop legs and haunt us for years to come!
