Want to talk about two incidents:
#1 – the A330 that made a glider-landing on the Azores
#2 – the A340 that overshot on take-off at Johannesburg
Both happened because the Airbuses EFIS didn’t show the right information or showed misleading information. I ask – is there a pattern? Are Airbus more prone to such misunderstanding? Has anything comparable happened on a Boeing?

I dunno, Matthew, it seems that you can’t look at an aviation forum anywhere just lately without seeing at least one Airbus-knocking posting.
Just seems a bit sad, that’s all. After all, Airbus AND Boeing both have a fine track record and a range of excellent products that are selling well.
Why can’t some people just accept this fact?

Yes, it’s a wonder that Airbus types don’t fall out of the sky every day! I should think they’ll give up and go home, now.
Do me a favour, guys……….. 😉

Well, there WAS the Air Canada B767 that surprised a whole bunch of RC model flyers when it had to put down on a disused runway due to acute fuel shortage.

Wasnt the A340 one put down to it was a newly trained A340 pilot?
